Hi. Qwitter broke on me earlier this afternoon, so I thought, well, I'll uninstall version 3.2.1 which I had on this laptop at the time and run the latest setup file 3.2.4, in order to install it. All seemed to run smoothly until I completed setup and Qwitter, should have, loaded the log on screen prompting me to enter my user name and password, instead of which, it decided to ding at me in that annoying Vista way and tell me that it couldn't log me on due to not being able to access the bloody log file. I looked for a sollution in the Qwitter questions and answers and read me file, mailing list Etc, but couldn't find anything accept download the Microsoft Visual C plus 2008 or whatever it is. I'm running 32-bit Windows on a Dell Studio 1537, so I downloaded the appropriate package and tried to start Qwitter again, the same message being the result. Somewhat frustrated by this time, I uninstalled then totally deleted anything and everything to do with Qwitter, reinstalled the microsoft app, then tried again, still got the same message when it tried to launch when I finished running setup. Has anyone else experienced this problem of late and could anyone, please please please, throw some light on it and provide me and anyone else who might have been affected with the appropriate sollusion.
Cheers. Jen.
Oopsy, spelt sollution wrong! Never mind, lol.
Correction to orriginal board post, the exact nature of the message I get when I try to launch Qwitter, is as follows: ---------------------------
Errors occurred
---------------------------
The logfile 'D:Program FilesQwitterqwitter.exe.log' could not be opened:
[Errno 13] Permission denied: 'D:\Program Files\Qwitter\qwitter.exe.log'
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
I got this too.
My way around it is to right click the qwitter icon then click on run as admin. When UAC popps up click continue. Qwitter should then open. After this you should no longer need to click run as admin. Good luck and HTH.
Ah yeah, I forgot that, lol. Sussed out what the problem was almost the instant I posted this! Silly me!
Jen.
away around this also is to right click on the icon go to properties ctrl + Tab over to compatibility tab down the list of check boxes and check the one that says run as administrator .. that way you don't have to right click and go to run as administrator every time you do this like some programs require you to do.
